Opposite Attraction
The classics never go out of style as monochromatic hues dominated the Parisian catwalks. Solid blocks of black and white paraded down each catwalk, each providing a different tone. Balenciaga remained stately with structured lines and straight pieces whereas Dior gave the contrasting look a softer look, with ruffles and pleats. Check it out Balenciaga, Chloé and Dior A/W 2013/14 collections!

Issa almost went bust because of the Duchess of Cambridge

The fashion label struggled to cope with the mass demand for the sapphire-blue wrap dress the royal beauty donned for her engagement announcement to Prince William in November 2010.

Camilla Al Fayed, Issa's chairwoman, said: "It absolutely sky-rocketed the brand on a global scale, but it was too much. Demand was so huge the business couldn't cope. If Kate wears a Zara dress, these huge companies have the backing to follow through. Issa was basically run by interns, students and Daniella [Helayel]. There was no business model."

Camilla - who is the daughter of former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed - became Issa's chairwoman in July 2011 after acquiring a 51 percent stake in the company, while founder and designer Daniella Helayel still has creative control.

Victoria Beckham is launching her debut e-commerce site
The designer had a "hands on" approach in creating her revamped website victoriabeckham.com, which will stock her ready-to-wear collection, contemporary Victoria by Victoria Beckham line, accessories, eyewear and denim for the first time.

The site will also sell an exclusive array of reissued dresses from previous seasons, The Victoria Beckham Icon collection, with a new selection becoming available every few months.

Victoria explained to WWD: "They don't seem to date, and the customer feels good in them. Once it's sold out, that's it. There will be no more. I limit my production.

Since 20 percent of her fashion empire's revenue currently comes via other retailers' websites, the former Spice Girl felt it was important to create a "modern, clean and easy" site of her own.

Gwyneth Paltrow is opening a hair salon

The actress has teamed up with the people responsible for her own glossy locks, hairstylist David Babaii and trainer Tracy Anderson, to launch David Babaii Blow Dry Bar in Brentwood, California, on April 4.

The salon is in keeping with Gwyneth's own eco-friendly lifestyle and will stock 14 cruelty-free products from David's eponymous haircare line - which don't contain sulfates, parabens or petrochemicals – to help fans achieve an A-list look.

Gwyneth follows in the footsteps of stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe, who opened a luxury New York blow dry salon called DreamDry in February. The actress could face stiff competition from Rachel since she is gearing up to open several more salons across the US after taking a mammoth 3,000 bookings in just a few weeks.

Leslie was born in Toronto and got her first break as assistant first to Vogue editor Anna Wintour, then to the magazine's fashion director Tonne Goodman.
Petra Flannery claimed second spot, largely for her work with younger, up-and-coming stars such as Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana and Mila Kunis.
Zoe was in third place and although she slipped from the top spot two years ago, she is still one of the most powerful dressers in Hollywood, having dressed both Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence for last month's Oscars.

Katie Holmes says Kate Moss is her style icon. The 34-year-old actress bases her chic, effortless look on the British supermodel's clothes, as well as model and actress Lauren Hutton and leggy beauty Christy Turlington because they all have "inspiring" taste in fashion.
Asked whose personal style she admires, Katie replied to ELLE magazine: "I love Kate Moss' style and the way she can transform herself. Lauren Hutton becomes more beautiful as she ages; a large part of that is just who she is and the work she does. It's very inspiring. And Christy Turlington is gorgeous."

Black & White
White may have been huge on the womenswear catwalks, but it made the most impact when teamed with black on the menswear catwalks.
